Frequently Asked Questions
What should I bring to my first appointment?
When you schedule your first appointment, you will receive several online forms to complete. One of the forms is a 3-day food journal that I will ask you to complete before our session. You will have several options for completing this task, just choose the one that works best for you and your lifestyle.
If you have lab work, it is helpful to have that prior to our visit, but it is not necessary. You may submit that lab work several ways:
- Upload it directly to your HIPAA compliant account.
- Bring it with you to your session.
- Ask your practitioner to send the files to me.
- I can submit a request to have those files transferred to my office.
Are you going to take away all the foods I love?
No! In fact, I will probably add more nourishing foods than I take away.
I use the Elimination and Rechallenge method with many clients (but not all), and find this to be one of the most reliable tests for determining food intolerances. Most of the time, we will only eliminate foods temporarily to reduce inflammation, let your body recalibrate, and to find out how your immune and digestive systems are responding to specific foods. Removing potential food triggers will help the “dust settle” so we can more clearly identify the root cause of your discomforts or chronic condition.
With enough time and healing, many people are eventually able to reintroduce foods that were previously a trigger. However, for others, removing a true food intolerance, like gluten for individuals with Celiac disease, is a lifelong journey that has the potential to dramatically improve your overall health physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually.
Are you able to conduct lab work or bloodwork?
Yes, I can order most tests, both conventional and functional tests.
After our first session together, we may identify lab work that would be helpful to have, and I can work with your primary care provider or request specific labs for you.
If you’ve worked with your primary care physician for these tests in the past, then please bring the results to your appointment or upload them into your client portal so we can review them together. These tests often include helpful information and clues that we’ll use to shape your customized diet and herbal wellness plan.
Where do you see clients?
